Guests Cutting the Ribbon
On September 27, 2011, “Colorful Yunnan · Shangri-La” Photo Exhibition & TV Week”， hosted by Yunnan International Culture Association, was unveiled at Houston International Trade Center. The delegation of Yunnan International Culture Association led by Li Tao, Executive Vice President of the association attended the activities. Over 200 guests of honor, including Zhang Chuanbing, Chinese Vice Consul General in Houston, Cai Lian, Cultural Counselor, Tan Qiuqing, representative of U.S. Congressman Green, Nguyen Danny, Missouri City Councilor, Raman, representative of Texas Branch of the Asia Society, Lan Duozuo, CEO of the International Trade Centre and other local personages from the political, cultural and overseas Chinese circles and diplomatic missions in Houston, attended the opening ceremony.
Vice Consul General Mr. Zhang expressed his congratulations on this exhibition in his address. “Although the Yunnan and Texas are separated by thousands of miles, bilateral exchanges and cooperation have been on the rise since the conclusion of the friendly relationship between Yunnan and Houston", he said. "Against the backdrop of the sound development of China-US relations, Yunnan and Texas enjoy a broad space for cooperation and this exhibition is expected to further deepen mutual understanding and promote pragmatic cooperation between the two sides in various fields. Consulate General in Houston stands ready to play a bridging role in promoting mutually-beneficial and win-win outcomes in the bilateral exchanges and cooperation.”

Vice President Li Tao, Tan Qiuqing, Raman, Lan Duozuo and other guests also addressed the opening ceremony. They expressed the hope that Yunnan and Texas would continue to deepen exchanges in various fields to promote bilateral cooperation. Tan Qiuqing on behalf of U.S. Congressman Green presented awards to the delegation of Yunnan International Culture Association for their contribution to the cultural exchanges between China and the US.
Tibetan artists from Yunnan presented wonderful improvisational performances. Guests and Tibetan friends present danced together to the melodious songs and jointly shared the enthusiasm of Shangri-La. The event was held in association with the World Television Company of California, Southern Chinese Daily News, International Trade Centre and Yunnan Townsman Association.
