“Where Is China — China-Portugal Contemporary Art Exhibition” was held on May 16 at the World Art Museum of China Millennium Monument in Beijing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal. President of Portugal Aníbal Cavaco Silva, who was paying a state visit to China with his wife, attended the opening ceremony. Ding Wei, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture of China, along with Portuguese ambassador to China, as well as representatives of China International Culture Association, were among the attendees.
The exhibition displays photographs, videos, oil paintings, devices, sculptures and other contemporary art works created by 28 Chinese and Portuguese artists. Exquisitely curated on unique themes, the exhibition brings the life of ordinary people of the two countries to the audience and displays how artists from the two countries fulfill their dream and chase freedom through art against the backdrop of art globalization. China and Portugal lie on the two ends of the Eurasia. Far away in distance, the two countries boast different natural environments and histories. The exhibited artworks open a window for the audience to learn about the contemporary art, the work of artists from China and Portugal as well as their art exploration by presenting their unique ideas, themes, and styles to the audience.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by China International Culture Association, a Portuguese art and culture company and other institutions. The exhibition will last till June 4.
