China Young Artists Project is the largest long-term program to support young artists both academically and financially in China. Co-organized by CICA and the Beijing-based company Beautiful Asset, the project has enlisted the support of international experts and professional marketing teams.
The five-year-long non-profit project works to discover and support the new generation of young Chinese artists, and encourages global exchange to foster creativity.By providing an analysis of different cultural patterns and thought models,CYAP seeks to inspire interaction among the artists.
It focuses on professionalism and research, and supports exchange activities engineered by professional curators, including individual art exhibitions, publishing projects, forums, seminars, workshops and art fairs.
On December 16, 2011, a CYAP press conference was held in Beijing to encourage the participation of young artists. In May 2012, 135 out of 1328 applicants were selected as the first recipients, after the careful examination of internationally influential juries, including Fan Di’an, Zeng Fanzhi, Martin Roth and Alexandra Munroe.
Later, CYAP organized a series of art events both at home and abroad, such as the exhibition Co-developing and the art festival I CAN PAY, to recommend Chinese artists to foreign art fairs and festivals and increase their visibility on the global art stage.
CYAP has fostered closer ties with the artists and created a stable environment for their production by organizing exchange activities and solving art production problems.
CYAP is now organizing master classes for the artists.
Looking ahead, CYAP will improve the database of the artists to establish a definitive information system of Chinese art resources, and to connect the young artists with international art organizations and art markets.
It will also play an active role in international art events, such as international biennales and large-scale art festivals.
